While there are no FDA regulations mandating tamper-evident bands for these food items, studies show that consumers choose the product with the tamper-evident band rather than the one without the bands. Consumers want to know that they are the first to open the
product and it will be safe to eat. Manufacturers are also looking at shrink labels for their capacity to stand out on the shelf , 10 color printing, glossiness of the label, 360-degree image area and the ability of the label to shrink to the contours of the containers.
Customers can coordinate the
tamper-evident band and label or use a full sleeve combination label. The combination label has the tamper-evident feature plus a horizontal perforation. This enables the consumer to remove the tamper-evident band while the label remains on the container. An added bonus is that this reduces the amount of packaging used on the product.
